Why We are Needed
Why our work matters
We believe that everyone deserves to feel supported, listened to and valued.
Across Norfolk, children, young people, adults and families are facing increasing pressures around mental wellbeing, loneliness, family relationships, confidence, education, employment and independence.
For some people, support only becomes available when things have reached crisis point.
We want to change that.
We believe in early support — giving people somewhere safe to turn, practical tools to help them cope and opportunities to build confidence before problems become bigger.
Children and young people
Many children and young people are struggling with confidence, anxiety, emotional wellbeing, school attendance and feeling connected.
The latest school attendance figures show that persistent absence remains a significant issue in England, meaning many children are missing a substantial amount of education.
We believe wellbeing and emotional support should be part of helping children feel able to engage, learn and thrive.
Our programmes give young people opportunities to:
Build confidence
Understand and manage emotions
Develop resilience
Express themselves creatively
Build positive relationships
Feel listened to and valued
Families
Family life can be difficult, especially when parents and children are struggling to communicate or spending less positive time together.
Sometimes families don’t need a crisis service — they need time, connection and the opportunity to rebuild their relationship.
Our Parent & Child Days provide a safe, relaxed environment where families can spend quality time together while learning simple tools around mindfulness, communication, wellbeing and connection.
We want to help families build stronger relationships before difficulties become crisis.
Young people leaving care
Leaving care and becoming independent is a huge step.
At 18, young people can be expected to manage money, cooking, housing, appointments, education, employment and their own wellbeing.
For a young person who doesn’t have a strong family support network around them, this can feel overwhelming.
This is why we created Step Up — to give young people practical life skills, confidence, wellbeing support and positive experiences that help prepare them for adulthood.
Adults and our wider community
Adults can also experience loneliness, low confidence, isolation, stress and difficult life changes.
We believe creativity, mindfulness, connection and having someone to talk to can help people feel less alone and more positive about their future.
Through our community activities, workshops and one-to-one support, we aim to create welcoming spaces where people can connect, learn, create and feel valued.
Why early intervention matters
We don’t want to wait until someone reaches crisis point before offering support.
We want to:
Listen early.
Support early.
Build confidence early.
Create connection early.
Our work is about giving people the tools, relationships and confidence they need to take their next step.
Our belief
A small amount of the right support at the right time can sometimes prevent a much bigger problem later.
That’s why The Kindness Company exists.
We want to create a kinder, more connected Norfolk where children, young people, adults and families feel supported, valued and able to move forward
